My name is Shuly Rose. I am a stargazer, a plant lady, a diviner, and a magician.

My journey of exploration into the occult arts began with a tarot deck and a fascination with folk magic, but it has taken a winding path before ending at the intersection of astrology and magic. In particular, I specialize in the astrology of the Moon and the nocturnal sect and seek to use my work to elevate the status of the feminine, the marginal, and physical embodiment in our tradition.

Through my study and writing on this blog, I hope to share techniques for spiritual and embodied engagement with the birth chart, offer points of entry to the student astrologer or magician, bring honor to my teachers and ancestors, and celebrate the beauty of the cosmos.

I approach this work as a revivalist, endeavoring to reinvigorate rather than focusing on reinvention or strict reconstruction of a historical practice. By awakening the spirits of the ancestors of this art through studying their work and speaking their names, we’re awakening their spirits to guide us as we continue to renew and innovate this living tradition.

I see the universe as a divine organism, a system which we have the obligation to engage with responsibly and care. We live in an ensouled world and all of our existence(s) are interdependent on each other. If our mutual survival depends on each other, it seems like the logical next step would be to help our intersection of the web to be as healthy as possible, for our system(s) and all the others'.

At the root of my work is my belief that a better world is possible; this is part of my contribution to it.
